Vertical Caving Day

This day trip is a great new experience for anyone interested in adventures in the mountains. Our goal for the day is to hike up to a cave in Hongpo Village, do a 15m long rappel into the cave and then, after exploring around the enormous room, will use SRT to ascend out of the cave and return back to Red Hill.

This trip involves basic SRT (Single Rope Technique) skills and so we start the morning at the Red Hill Climbing Gym to train these techniques. After everyone is comfortable with SRT rappelling and ascending, we eat some lunch at Red Hill and then hike 1-1.5 hour to the cave.

The guide will rig the rappel system and backup belay and then those who want to rappel into the cave can rappel. There is an option for part of the group to walk into the cave via another entrance. The cave has a few large rooms that can be explored for about a half an hour. Then those who wish to, can use their newly acquired SRT skills to ascend the fixed rope.

After packing up all of the gear, we will hike back down to Red Hill.

Inclusions: gear, guide, and trail lunch.

Costs:

¥600/person
